Isaiah 15
An Oracle Concerning Moab
1. An oracle concerning Moab. 1 Because Ar of Moab is laid waste in a night, 1 Moab is undone; 1 because Kir of Moab is laid waste in a night, 1 Moab is undone.
2. He has gone up to the temple,[a] and to Dibon, 2 to the high places[b] to weep; 2 over Nebo and over Medeba 2 Moab wails. 2 On every head is baldness; 2 every beard is shorn;
3. in the streets they wear sackcloth; 3 on the housetops and in the squares 3 everyone wails and melts in tears.
4. Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; 4 their voice is heard as far as Jahaz; 4 therefore the armed men of Moab cry aloud; 4 his soul trembles.
5. My heart cries out for Moab; 5 her fugitives flee to Zoar, 5 to Eglath-shelishiyah. 5 For at the ascent of Luhith 5 they go up weeping; 5 on the road to Horonaim 5 they raise a cry of destruction;
6. the waters of Nimrim 6 are a desolation; 6 the grass is withered, the vegetation fails, 6 the greenery is no more.
7. Therefore the abundance they have gained 7 and what they have laid up 7 they carry away 7 over the Brook of the Willows.
8. For a cry has gone 8 around the land of Moab; 8 her wailing reaches to Eglaim; 8 her wailing reaches to Beer-elim.
9. For the waters of Dibon[c] are full of blood; 9 for I will bring upon Dibon even more, 9 a lion for those of Moab who escape, 9 for the remnant of the land.
